John Martorano, also known as "The Executioner," is a former American mobster and hitman for the Winter Hill Gang in Boston. He was born on December 13, 1940, in Somerville, Massachusetts. Martorano was a key player in the gang led by James "Whitey" Bulger and Stephen Flemmi during the 1970s and 1980s.
Martorano was responsible for carrying out numerous murders on behalf of the Winter Hill Gang, reportedly admitting to killing at least 20 people. He cooperated with law enforcement and testified against Bulger and Flemmi in exchange for a reduced sentence.
In 2013, Martorano released a book titled "Hitman: The Untold Story of Johnny Martorano: Whitey Bulger's Enforcer and the Most Feared Gangster in the Underworld," which detailed his criminal activities and his decision to cooperate with authorities.
Despite his cooperation, Martorano remains a controversial figure due to his violent past and the number of lives he took during his time as a hitman for the Winter Hill Gang.
